Ross Stewart shouted: 'Who are you talking to? Do you know who I am? Do you know who the f**k I am?'
Ross Stewart called police a "gang of r*****ed b*****ds and inbred t***ts" as they arrested him outside his Cawthorne Avenue home in Kirkby on Jun 13 2023. Officers attended the scene after the 41-year-old was seen armed with a plank of wood, having vandalised several cars in the area. As one officer attempted to handcuff him, he resisted and shouted at the officer to pepper spray him.
Rowlands delivery driver Kenneth Debenham rushed into the shop and attempted to stop Stewart by "bear hugging" him from behind. The pair fell to the floor, where Stewart punched him twice in the face, splitting his lip, and bit him on the ear. Stewart was released under investigation once again, and on August 1 two Merseyside Police officers on patrol saw him smoking what they believed was cannabis outside his house. He tried to walk away when they approached him, and when they pursued him, he pushed one of them and kicked the other in the chest. A fight then broke out between Stewart and a male police officer, and three more officers were called to restrain him.
Oliver Saddington, defending, said Stewart suffered from mental health problems, and had struggled with PTSD after being arrested for affray in 2021. He said: "He accepts his behaviour was unpleasant, but also at the same time the force the police used on him was something they used, in his mind, with relish. He was subjected to some significant force during these incidents.
