A 38-year old man who chased then stabbed and killed his "entirely innocent" neighbour will spend the next nine years in prison before he is considered eligible for release.
CCTV of the incident was captured on CCTV and showed Mr Mann being approached by Donnelly outside the block of flats were they both resided on Church Street.At one point during the chase, Mr Mann turned round, looked back at Donnelly and appeared to gesture at him as he ran before he crossed the road and into on-coming traffic.
Despite medical attention, Mr Mann was pronounced dead at 11.42am. A post mortem conducted on January 5 concluded the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest which penetrated his heart.Mr Mann - a talented 28-year old tattoo artist known as Zen Black - moved into his flat two months before he was killed.
During today's sentencing, Mr Justice O'Hara described Mr Mann as "an entirely innocent victim who did nothing to provoke or justify the fatal attack by the defendant." Mr Justice O'Hara addressed Donnelly's mental state on the day of the stabbing and said two psychiatrists agreed he was "suffering from an abnormality of mental functioning arising from schizophrenia."
