An 18-year-old man allegedly shot his teen girlfriend after telling her 'there would be trouble' if she went to a party without him.
Mahdi ‘threatened to hurt her and told her that he was not afraid to punch her in front of everyone’, states the charging document.The girl ‘stated that Mahdi displayed a pistol, and she asked him if he had taken pictures with the gun. reported that her ears started to ring, and she realized that she had been shot in the leg by Mahdi’, states the document.
She later told detectives that Mahdi’s relationship with her was ‘violent and abusive’ and that he was ‘very possessive of her and treats her like she is his property’. The girl added that Mahdi ‘is physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive toward her’, the documents state. There was a ‘history of abuse between her and the defendant’.
Mahdi has been charged with a first-degree felony charge of discharge of a firearm causing serious injury. Prosecutors asked for him to be held in Salt Lake County Jail without bail.
