The man was arrested after causing damage to windows to Marsh Lane Police Station

Officers arrested a man after windows were damaged at Marsh Lane Police Station, Bootle, at around 8.25pm on Thursday, November 9. It was reported that a man, armed with a hammer, had smashed multiple windows.

A 31-year old man, from Birkdale, was arrested on suspicion of fraud, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon. He was later bailed and taken to hospital after he was detained under the Mental Health Act.READ MORE: Couple 'dreamt of becoming millionaires' but became criminals instead Detective Inspector Graham Godwin said: "Although a man was quickly arrested outside Marsh Lane we are continuing to investigate this incident that has caused significant damage to one of our police stations in Bootle. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident and enquiries are ongoing in the area.
