Martin Salinger from west Dublin, was found dead in his cell on the D1 landing of the remand prison at around 5am this morning
A murder investigation is set to be launched by Gardai after a prisoner was found stabbed to death in his cell at Dublin 's Cloverhill Prison.
Mr Salinger was on remand awaiting trial for the alleged seizure of cannabis and a handgun, reports the Irish Mirror. A Senior Investigating Officer from Garda has been appointed to lead the investigation and a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to Mr Salinger's family. "The scene remains preserved for a full forensic and technical examination. The Coroner has been notified and the services of the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau have been requested."
