A German tourist is knocked overboard off New Zealand but he has an unusual plan to help him survive hours in the Pacific.

"Without the jeans I wouldn't be here today - they were really the thing that saved me."

He said:"I saw it many years ago and I always thought if I ever go overboard without a life jacket I'm going to do that. He said that, as he lay in the water for the next few hours, he thought of his 10-month-old daughter, who lives in the Philippines with his girlfriend.
