Myron Barrier is accused of killing a woman at Fourth and East St. John streets downtown in April
The shooting was reported at 9:07 p.m. the night of April 26 near North Fourth and East St. John streets, with a 911 caller describing an injured woman. Responding police officers went to the site and found a woman who was not breathing and suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.
No shooter was located near the scene, but an ensuing police investigation later identified 61-year-old Myron Barrier, of San Jose, as a suspect. Barrier was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail, records show. Police said the circumstances behind the fatal shooting remain under investigation.
