A 62-year-old carpenter reported missing after he was swept away by a rampaging river here at the height of tropical cyclone ‘’Paeng’’ on Oct. 29 was found dead on a river bank in the neighboring town of Pinukpuk, Kalinga on Monday, Oct. 31.

BALBALAN, Kalinga – The Balbalan Municipal Police Station said the incident happened at 3:40 p.m. but was only reported to them at 6 p.m.

Police said the victim and a friend were walking on their way home from a wedding when he was hit by falling rocks and fell into a creek and carried away towards the river. Authorities and residents mounted a search and rescue operation until the victim’s body was found on the river bank in Pinukpuk.
