Jay Farley tragically died after falling from Bootle Strand Car Park last year
A woman made it her 'mission' to ensure other families do not experience what hers did after the tragic death of her brother-in-law. Jay Farley, 26, died after falling from Bootle Strand Car Park on April 11, 2023. Michelle Ferguson, 41, was on her way home from a hospital appointment with her husband when they drove past Bootle Strand. Michelle said: 'There were loads of police and a tent was up. I said to my husband: ‘Someone else has killed themselves from there again’.
Michelle said: ' We were broken as a family and it is my mission to make sure no other family ever has to go through what we did again.' In her quest to do this, Michelle approached Sefton Council. She continued: 'I asked them why they weren’t doing anything. I sent them loads of information and had a meeting with them, and they had risk assessments done on car parks .
