Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani has withdrawn from the Man United takeover race.
Manchester United supporters have blasted the Glazer family following reports that Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani has pulled out of the race to purchase the club.
Along with British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Qatari banker was one of the leading candidates to take over the club from the American family. He first registered his interest in buying United back in February, less than three months after the Glazers announced the club may be sold.READ MORE: Jadon Sancho might have unlocked Amad's next United move
Though some United supporters expressed concerns about the prospect of the club having connections with Qatar, amid fears of sportswashing, many were happy to accept the possibility of Sheikh Jassim purchasing the club, purely as it would have meant an end to the Glazers' premiership. They purchased the club back in 2005, but their ownership has been dominated by protests and anti-Glazer messages since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.
