Nine Man United players have scored so far this season and they are well placed to beat the number they ended with last season.

For one of the most accomplished defensive midfielders of his generation, Casemiro was also one of Manchester United's chief attacking assets last season.

Casemiro is one of nine different scorers already for United this season - their joint-most after eight games in the last 10 seasons. United ended last season with 16 separate goalscorers and they are more than halfway to matching that number. Four years ago, only four United players had mustered a goal eight games into the 2019-20 season and a sixth scorer's name did not flash up on vidiprinters until Andreas Pereira's deflected effort against Brighton on November 10.

There is still potential elsewhere. Mason Mount and Facundo Pellsitri are yet to get their first United goals, Scott McTominay is a decent goal-getter while the injured Amad claimed 14 goals on loan for Sunderland last season. A goal for Sofyan Amrabat would be a collector's item; he has not scored in 49 appearances for Morocco and only managed 11 goals in his career.

In 2012-13, an extraordinary 16 individual players had scored after the first eight fixtures. The current United squad will be hard-pressed to get anywhere near the final goalscorers list for 2006-07 when a club-record 20 players put the ball between the sticks. United matched that number in Sir Ferguson's final season of 2012-13.
