Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is expected to leave the club in 2025 when his contract expires.
The manager admitted after winning the Premier League title that he is 'closer to leaving than staying' on beyond 2025 and sources close him expect next season to be his last at the Etihad.
From their point of view, it would make sense. Begiristain has done his best work with Guardiola because they understand each other so well, so even if Begiristain stays once Guardiola leaves he may not be as effective. Ed Woodward's first transfer window in charge saw him dramatically announce he was leaving the summer tour for 'urgent transfer business' that never got done, spend so long failing to sign Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas that United had to pay £4m more than they wanted to for Marouane Fellaini because his release clause had expired, while a move for Ander Herrera broke down after impostors turned up to La Liga offices pretending to represent the player.
