Grace Clinton admits it was challenging to be linked with a move away from Manchester United over the summer
Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton says she is in the best shape of her career to date and is happy to have put "unsettling" speculation over her future behind her.
However, United had always planned to bring Clinton back to Leigh Sports Village and she has so far excelled for the Reds this term, scoring three goals in just four WSL games. "Towards the back end of last season there was a lot on my mind," the midfielder said when quizzed on the impact of the summer's transfer speculation.
Clinton has quickly become one of United's most important players and she has credited manager Marc Skinner with helping her take her game to the next level. “For me Marc is really good at recognising when you need an arm around your shoulder or recognising when you need a kick up the bum," she said,
"There are always things you can improve on, and we’re always looking into that as a team, and personally, so definitely there are always things you can improve on, but each year I do feel fitter and stronger.”
