Man United won just 10 of their 19 Premier League home games last season, meaning they are once again tasked with correcting their Old Trafford troubles ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Manchester United's home form was the backbone of their third-placed finish in the Premier League in 2022/23.
However, they amassed 15 points fewer, losing six times the number of games as Brighton, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Bournemouth, Fulham and Arsenal all left Old Trafford with maximum points. An increase in away victories meant a sharp rise in the number of goals United conceded; they sieved 28 league goals at Old Trafford in comparison to the 10 they shipped in 2022/23.
Last season, United's tally of 57 league goals meant they were they the joint-lowest scorers in the top half of the table alongside Crystal Palace. By contrast, City and Liverpool, who Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier this year said he wanted to "knock off their perch" within three years, scored 96 and 86 league goals respectively.
And they couldn't make up for their sticky home form on the road last season, winning just 27 points. They amassed the exact same tally away from home in 2022/23, which prompted Ten Hag, ahead of United's opening away game of last season, to demand more from his players away from Old Trafford. In preparation for the new campaign, it is likely Ten Hag will be delivering the same message with United yet to perfect their away record since he took charge two years ago. Only this time he may be forced to deliver a similar message when analysing their M16 ambitions.
