Man United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly looking to demolish the club’s iconic Old Trafford ground in favour of building a more modern home., the 71-year-old British businessman has his heart set on building a 100,000 capacity ‘Wembley of the North’ over redeveloping their home of 114 years.plans earlier in the summer to reduce Old Trafford from a capacity of 75,000 to 30,000, preserving the stadium’s history and providing a home for the club’s youth and women’s sides.
A ground that size has since been considered as too big for the sides concerned, and the club are now looking to start anew. The proposal won’t come cheap, architects Foster and Partners have been tasked with bringing Ratcliffe’s £2billion vision to life.At £2B, Man United’s potential new stadium would be nearly double the cost of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which cost Daniel Levy and partners £1.2billion.Erik ten Hag’s side currently sit in tenth, with two wins and two defeats in their opening four Premier League games of the season.
