Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Manchester United, has acknowledged the difficult situation facing his team as they strive to climb out of the Premier League's lower reaches. He has shifted the focus away from the recent departure of Marcus Rashford, who joined Aston Villa on loan, emphasizing the team's battle for their positions. Amorim expressed his determination to implement long-term strategic changes despite the immediate challenges and admitted the risks associated with major squad adjustments mid-season.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has shifted focus away from the Marcus Rashford saga that engulfed the club in January, emphasizing the team's fight for survival in the Premier League. Rashford, who joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season, left United amidst a turbulent period that saw the club languishing in 13th position with seven defeats at Old Trafford.

During a press conference on Thursday, ahead of Friday's FA Cup fourth-round clash against Leicester, Amorim addressed the deal's completion, stating, 'We are fighting for our jobs until the summer. I'm just focusing on these games.' He acknowledged the challenges and risks inherent in his decision to overhaul the squad mid-season, admitting, 'I knew when I chose this profession that you have the risk of the results and I already knew when I came here. I looked at the schedule, I looked at the team and I understood that my decision of changing everything, taking these hard decisions in the middle of the season - without new signings - is a danger for a coach.' Amorim's comments highlight the pressure mounting on the team and the manager as they strive to improve their fortunes.Despite allowing Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Rashford to depart on loan, with only young defenders Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu arriving, Amorim remains optimistic about the club's long-term prospects. He indicated that United are taking a cautious approach to transfers, wanting to avoid repeating mistakes of the past. 'What I feel is that the club is taking its time,' he explained. 'We know the urgency of the team at the moment, but I think everybody here doesn't want to make the same mistakes we did in the past. We have to improve the players that we have, win some games and then, in the summer, we will see.' Amorim believes that this period of transition, while challenging, will ultimately lead to a stronger team. He emphasized the importance of time for training and developing a specific playing style, stating, 'We are taking some risks, but it's the way we want to proceed. We can improve our team. We will have time to train because I'm always complaining about not having time to train. Now we have time to train, we are going to improve the team, the players. I want a certain type of player, a different profile and we are changing right away.'Man Utd's upcoming fixtures: February 7: Leicester (H), FA Cup fourth round, kick-off 8pm February 16: Tottenham Hotspur (A), Premier League, live on Sky Sports, kick-off 4.30pm February 22: Everton (A), Premier League, kick-off 12.30pm February 26: Ipswich (H), Premier League, kick-off 7.30pm March 9: Arsenal (H), Premier League, live on Sky Sports, kick-off 4.30pm March 16: Leicester (A), Premier League, live on Sky Sports, kick-off 7p
