BREAKING: Manchester United and England forward Mason Greenwood says he is ‘relieved’ after charges of attempted rape and assault were dropped.
Greenwood, who has one cap for England, was arrested in January 2022 amid allegations surrounding images and videos that surfaced on social media.
He was later charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. On Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service said the charges were discontinued after key witnesses withdrew their involvement. In a short statement following the announcement, Greenwood: ‘I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.
