Manchester United could be in the market for a new striker in the summer after being blunt up front so far this season
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned Ruben Amorim that Viktor Gyokeres' form in Portugal may not necessarily translate to the Premier League if he chooses to target him next year.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have scored a combined three goals for United this season but Amorim has insisted he will not try and sign any Sporting players in the January transfer window. While Gyokeres is not a guaranteed target for the Reds, he is one of the favourites to be targeted next year but Ferdinand warned his form may not transition to England.
"Great attributes, the profile of the kid is something that you think would be able to work in England. But again, I would not be getting too carried away because you want to see him deliver that. "It is sometimes men against boys when he plays." Amorim led Sporting out at home for the final time on Tuesday evening as they took on Manchester City in the Champions League.
