Thomas Tuchel is the front runner to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this week and it could be bad news for two Old Trafford stars.
De Ligt was not part of Tuchel’s first-team plans at Bayern Manchester United are prepared to turn to Thomas Tuchel if they decide to part ways with Erik ten Hag this week. Tuchel, who has had spells at Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and most recently Bayern Munich, was interviewed for the role at Old Trafford in the summer before the club eventually decided to stick with the Dutchman.
Bild reported the decision left de Ligt ‘angry’, telling reporters he was not carrying an injury. The publication also claimed de Ligt was under the impression he had constantly ‘been dealt a bad hand’ by the former Chelsea manager with the ‘bitter decision’ confirming to him Tuchel was not a fan of his. After that defeat, the German coach explained de Ligt was not the right man for his plans to press the opposition high up the pitch, urging the former Ajax starlet to ‘fight for his spot’.
