Geyse and Melvine Malard lit up Leigh Sports Village in Man Utd's Champions League debut

Manchester United passed their inaugural Champions League test with a draw against Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday night.

Marc Skinner took the usual starting XI and upended it to involve Lisa Naalsund, and Jayde Riviere in an attacking role and traded Geyse for Lucia Garcia up top which gave the home side a breath of fresh air, albeit nervy in possession. Mary Earps kept the home side in the game with several strong parries to deny Sandy Baltimore and others as it took the Reds time to warm up to the pressure of the Champions League level.

United struggled to keep hold of the ball in the opening half and had to fend off continual attacking pressure from the two-time Women’s Champions League finalists. United’s entire back line remained stoic and disciplined, playing text-book play against Chawinga and slowly unhinging her threat element down the left flank.
