The Manchester Evening News understands United are monitoring Martin Zubimendi amid interest from other top clubs including Arsenal and Barcelona. Discussions over a move for PSG's Manuel Ugarte have also been held, while free agent Adrien Rabiot has resurfaced as a potential option, while United could yet decide to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent deal.
While the 25-year-old is well-known in European circles, to the casual follower his emergence has been relatively recent. He produced a fine cameo during the Euro 2024 showpiece win over England - after being given the tough task of replacing injured Manchester City talisman Rodri at half-time - and helped Spain coast past the finishing line.
