Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford are in the latest England squad, but there is no place for Mason Mount.
Manchester United have not been able to catch a break this season - for one reason or another - as two England regulars prepare for their latest working holiday away with the national team.
Harry Maguire needs matches, Marcus Rashford needs confidence. Both have been included by Gareth Southgate for upcoming internationals with Australia and Italy - where Maguire will get matches and Rashford can potentially sharpen up his shooting boots beneath the famous Wembley arch. Mount has not featured for the Three Lions since their agonising World Cup quarter-final defeat to France in Qatar last winter. His time will, undoubtedly, come again, but you also have to spare a thought for him, given what seems to be a lack of consistency with rationale for international squad selection.
Despite his club struggles, meanwhile, Maguire has seldom let England down and, although selection agitates fans from rival clubs, the 30-year-old will always be a shoo-in for what he has accomplished previously with Three Lions stitched on his chest. An injury to Lisandro Martinez has, also, put him one step closer to the firing line.
