Anthony Taylor initially gave the Brazilian a yellow card for his tackle on Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz but he was told to have another look by the VAR.
Casemiro was visibily upset to cost his team and compatriot Antony attempted to comfort him in the immediate aftermath of his sending off.“I will win this game for you. I will.” Raphael Varane thinks Casemiro – who he spent eight years with the Brazil international at Real Madrid – will be a huge miss for the team.“He brings balance to the team and to the squad, but we have a great squad and we have to find another balance without him.“I think he was very disappointed because nobody wants to get out of the pitch before the end but as I say it’s part of football. It was obviously very disappointing but we can focus on the next games and that’s it.
