It leaves the Glazer family with a big decision to make in the coming weeks. They have not succeeded in whipping up a bidding war and drawing an offer at their £6 billion asking price despite frustrating some of the bidders by extending the process in an attempt to draw out improved bids.
It is understood that in that scenario Sir Jim would have overall control and a new share structure would be set up. But asto allow the Glazers to stay on in any capacity. “The process needs to be concluded swiftly now and we need clarity over the future of the football club,” MUST spokesman Chris Rumfitt told“Any outcome which leaves the Glazers with a significant ownership stake is going to cause a lot of concern. We have been clear and consistent that there has to be a clean break from the Glazer family.”
