Dan Gore produced a moment of magic in Man United Under-21s' 5-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Manchester United youngsters Rhys Bennett and Sam Murray lauded teammate Dan Gore after he scored a brilliant solo goal in the Under-21s' 5-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The highlight of the contest, however, was Gore's 68th-minute strike to put the Reds 3-2 ahead. After picking up the ball inside the centre circle - just inside the Blackburn half - the youngster, who made his first-team debut in last Tuesday's 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace, evaded a couple of challenges, showed quick feet and powered a brilliant left-footed effort into the back of the net.

Instagram Some of the plaudits came from his teammates, including Bennett and Murray, who, along with Gore, started the 2022 FA Youth Cup final win over Nottingham Forest. They both decided that the goal was good enough for the midfielder to be compared to Inter Miami star Lionel Messi, in a nod to his quick, dancing feet.

It capped off a memorable five days for Gore, who stepped off the bench against Palace to make his first competitive appearance for the Reds at senior level. He was introduced as a second-half substitute just past the hour mark.
