Neighbors called ABC 6, looking for help removing squatters from a home in Delaware County. Now the man responsible for bringing those squatters to the home say
s he’s in the same boat as his beleaguered neighbors: he wants them out too! But he’s finding he doesn’t have legal standing to evict them.
Neighbors said that led to junk and trash piling up outside the home and suspected criminal activity inside. Since 2021, neighbors have called police more than 40 times and other county and township officials, only to be told that there was nothing anyone could do to get the squatters out.Sherman is out of jail now, out just a few weeks. Now he says he is the victim here.
Sherman said his so-called friends even shot up his car and tore parts of it off to sell. Sherman said it got so bad that he had his neighbor call 911 for him, trying to get the squatters out. “I don’t even feel like I live here; it’s my house, and I don’t even feel like I live here,” he said.
