Four years ago, the Schuylkill County man escaped a Harrisburg rehabilitation center while serving a separate federal sentence for drug trafficking.
A United States District Court judge on Monday sentenced a Schuylkill County man to more than 20 years in prison for the sexual exploitation of children and escape from a detention facility.
In November 2020, the man escaped a Harrisburg residential rehabilitation facility while he was serving the remainder of a federal drug trafficking sentence. Shane Lopez, 29, of Mahanoy City, was arrested in May 2021 in Mahanoy City after his escape. When police seized him, they uncovered evidence of child pornography, and further investigation of his phone and accounts he owned revealed he had more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography, including a video he made of an 18-month-old, according to a Department of Justice press release.
