A Texas man who lived in an iron lung for 70 years after being diagnosed with polio as a child has died.

Paul Alexander of Dallas was paralyzed by the virus when he was diagnosed in 1952 at the age of six, according toAlexander previously said he was rushed to the hospital after developing symptoms and woke up inside the iron lung."Paul Alexander, “The Man in the Iron Lung”, passed away yesterday. After surviving polio as a child, he lived over 70 years inside of an iron lung," fundraising organizer Christopher Ulmer wrote.
