Lt. Kenneth Hooten said the 20-year-old man had exited his vehicle and was putting gas in his car at pump #2 Thursday night when a black or dark Chevrolet Traverse pulled up and opened fire.

A man was shot while he was pumping gas at the Chevron on Jaybird Road shortly before midnight on July 25, 2024.The shooting happened at 11:55 p.m. at the Brighton Chevron on Jaybird Road.

After the gunfire stopped, the victim put his girlfriend back in the car and they drove to the Brighton police station for help.
