Manchester Airport said it did not expect any cancellations and that passengers will not need to change their travel plans
Passengers could face "longer immigration queues" at border control due to strike action. Border Force staff workers with the Public and Commercial Service union are on strike from today until around 7am on Thursday .
Thousands of people travel through the airport each day and are being warned to face disruption, longer waiting times and delays at border control. It is part of wider industrial action taking place at all UK airports and maritime ports on Budget Day.The Home Office has said that it is working closely with Border Force to “minimise disruption and delays” during the strike and that it had resources available to deploy to support the flow of travellers.
In a statement published on Twitter, Manchester Airport said: "Passengers travelling back into Manchester Airport on Wednesday 15 March may experience longer immigration queues than normal due to strike action being taken by UK Border Force officers at all UK airports. "At Manchester Airport, we do not anticipate any cancellations and passengers do not need to change their travel plans unless otherwise advised by their airline. Passengers who are eligible to use eGates may experience shorter wait times. The Home Office said the industrial action may also lead to additional disruption to services and queues at French ports.
