Thousands of people pass through Manchester Airport each day
Thousands of people pass through the international airport's three terminals each day, with direct flights in operation to some 181 destinations across 54 countries. Many passengers are being urged to give themselves "plenty of time" to get to the airport today.
It comes as TransPennine Express said: "Customers planning to travel today between #Manchester and #Scotland are advised not to travel and claim a full refund. A follow-up post on X, formerly Twitter, from Manchester Airport's official account on Thursday said: "If you are travelling to the airport, please allow plenty of time for your journey and take care." Much of the UK is being battered by rain today amid a number of weather warnings from the Met Office. Its weather experts have warned we can expect "some flooded road", as well as "spray and flooding" and "delays or cancellations to train and bus services".
