'Danger to life' warnings have been issued as strong winds are set to batter the UK
Manchester Airport has issued an update to travellers ahead of severe weather warnings for wind on Friday . Storm Éowyn is expected to bring widespread disruption, with amber and red weather alerts in place in across many areas of the UK.
In the north west, including Manchester, an amber warning is in place. The Met Office says 'very strong winds' are expected to bring 'widespread disruption', including power cuts, damage to buildings and vehicles, and delays or cancellations to road, rail and air travel. The post read: "High winds are expected across the UK tomorrow due to Storm Eowyn. If you are due to travel from Manchester Airport, please check with your airline for up-to-date flight information.
Forecasters from the Met Office are expecting gusts of wind up to 100mph in some areas on Friday, with widespread travel disruption likely across much of the UK.
