Manchester Airport anticipates a surge in travelers this half term, with Dubai, Tenerife, and Alicante emerging as the most sought-after destinations. Over 800,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport during the first school holiday of 2025, seeking respite from the UK's winter chill. The airport experienced its busiest January on record, with 1.9 million passengers.

Dubai, Tenerife and Alicante are set to be the most popular destinations from Manchester Airport this half term as Brits go in search of some winter sun.

Despite the record number of passengers, 99 per cent of January’s passengers waited for less than 15 minutes to get to security, and 84 per cent waited less than five minutes. Other destinations in the Middle East are proving popular for February half term, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Traditional winter sun spots like the Canary Islands dominate the top ten.

Manchester Airport Managing Director, Chris Woodroofe, said: “February half-term is always an exciting week. It’s the first school holiday of 2025 and it’s a great time to get a break from the cold weather here in the UK and head to warmer climes.
