Manchester City Council has canceled green bin collections for the week of January 7th due to weather-related delays. The council is prioritizing the collection of other bins, as green bins are the least used. Residents are advised not to put out their green bins this week and to check online for updates and further guidance.
Green bins will NOT be collected in Manchester this week, and the council says wintry weather is to blame.
“We are sorry that green bin collections are being cancelled this week,” the statement said. “Due to weather slowing services down, we need to concentrate resources on other bins that are used more. Please don't put green bins out for the rest of the week.” The notice added: “We are sorry that due to issues caused by the weather, bin collections across the city have been slowed down, so we are temporarily stopping emptying green recycling bins this week.
“If your grey/black and/or brown bins are due to be collected this week and your whole street is missed, please leave those bins out and we will return the following day.”
