From raising money for charity to helping save lives. Mancunians have been demonstrating incredible acts of kindness this year. The Manchester Evening News has taken a look at some of the stories of generosity from our region, to shine a light on these good deeds. Here are just a few of this year's heroes, who have bagged themselves a spot on Santa's good list. When nine-year-old Georgia Ryder from Bury found out her twin would be moving schools she was devastated.

She had been inseparable from her brother Oliver, but after an Autism diagnosis in the summer, he was given a place at Milwood Primary Special School where he could get better support. Described by her mum as a 'junior carer' to Oliver at their previous school, Georgia had always kept an eye out for her twin and comforted him whenever he struggled. It meant she found the change difficult. However, when Oliver began to 'thrive' in his new environment, she decided to thank the school by running a mile a day throughout November. She raised enough for a specialist 'Acheeva' bed at the school, which can help vulnerable pupils with their positioning. The twins' mum Christy, 36, said: 'She even ran when Storm Bert was raging, bless her. It was a mixture of times when she did it – sometimes it was 7am before school if she had clubs in the evenings and sometimes straight after school. “Georgia is like a young carer to Oliver, being a twin she doesn’t know anything else but having him by her side. She’s so good with him and she is his safe space. “When she learned about his new school and all the different children there, she said she wanted to do something to help. “She did it for Oliver but also to say thanks to Millwood for helping him.” When Michaela Taylor became severely unwell with postnatal depression this year, she planned to do the unthinkabl
