Following a consultation, Manchester City Council can now issue fines to drivers for breaking traffic regulations. The first location for enforcement is the Stockport Road junction in Longsight.

Following a consultation in the autumn of 2022, Manchester City Council has been granted new powers to enforce existing rules that previously only the police were able to enforce, meaning that drivers can now face fines of up to £70 for breaking the rules.

Stockport Road junction The first location where enforcement will take place is at the Stockport Road junction with Dickenson Road/Stanley Grove in Longsight, with enforcement starting from Monday, November 20. The Stockport Road location will be the first of seven that have been identified where MTCs will be enforced, with the remaining six going live over the course of 2024. More information on the wider roll-out will be made public in the coming months.
