Manchester City qualified for the Champions League knockout stage but face a play-off challenge. Learn about the draw, potential opponents, and match dates.

Manchester City secured their place in the Champions League knockout stage but will have to navigate the play-off route to reach the round of 16. Pep Guardiola's team was the only English club that failed to secure a top-eight finish in the group stage. However, they knew a victory against Club Brugge was crucial to avoid an early exit from the competition. Despite falling behind just before halftime, City staged a comeback to win 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Mateo Kovacic and Savinho found the net for the hosts, while a Joel Ordonez own goal sealed the victory. City's fate now rests on the play-off draw, scheduled for Friday, January 31st, at 11 am in Nyon, Switzerland. The play-off draw will pit teams finishing ninth to 24th in their respective groups against each other in two-legged ties. Seeding for the draw sees Atalanta, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, PSV, PSG, and Benfica placed in the higher bracket, while Monaco, Brest, Feyenoord, Juventus, Celtic, Manchester City, Sporting Lisbon, and Club Brugge make up the unseeded group. The seeded clubs will enjoy the advantage of hosting the second leg of their play-off encounters. Manchester City's journey through the play-offs could see them face either Real Madrid or Bundesliga powerhouses Bayern Munich. The play-off matches are scheduled for February 11th or 12th (first leg) and February 18th or 19th (second leg). Should they overcome this hurdle, City will then progress to the round of 16, with the first legs slated for March 4th or 5th, and the second legs for March 11th or 12th. All Champions League matches, including the play-offs and knockout stages, will be broadcast live on TNT Sports. Viewers can access TNT Sports via Discovery+ Premium for £30.99 per month, which also grants access to the Europa League and Conference League
