Manchester City fans are reigniting the feud with Real Madrid over last year's Ballon d'Or ceremony. A banner mocking Madrid's boycott, featuring Rodri kissing his trophy, will be unveiled before Tuesday's Champions League clash.
Pep Guardiola and Ruben Dias did their utmost to play down Real Madrid 's controversial boycott of last year's Ballon d'or ceremony when Rodri was crowned the best player in the world. Twenty-four hours later, Manchester City fans are ramping up the feud again with a brutal banner mocking Madrid over Rodri 's win ahead of Vinicus Jr. Real were so furious that Rodri was crowned that they cancelled their delegation's flight to Paris for the award ceremony at the last minute.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti said: 'I don’t think it was the wrong decision, we thought that Vini was the winner of the Ballon d'Or that year. It doesn’t mean we don’t respect Rodri because he is a fantastic player, I think we thought that Rodrigo deserved to win the year before.' Guardiola said the matter is over, while Dias said he didn't give Real's tantrums a second thought.
