Powerhouse Dance Team is the country's first dance team for all age groups to be invited to competing in the United States
Manchester's very own dance group has been invited to compete in next year's world championships. Powerhouse Dance Team, which coaches girls and boys from the age of two up to adulthood, are Britain's first team to be taking all age categories in POM dance to the competition in Orlando, Florida
Powerhouse has been based in Swinton since expanding in December of 2022, with directors Tash Wilde, 32, and Jodie Lee, 32 who are both from Salford. The pair are also coaches alongside Hannah-Lara Griffin and Samuel Hyde. The organisation started with just 50 girls and has now increased to over 200.
Tasha has competed four times in the world championships as well as coached on several occasions. "We train the girls really hard and do loads of planning but make it fun. They also practice at home, they do videos, we give them feedback and things to improve so they’re really dedicated. Mum of three Alex Smyth, 39 has been taking her five year old daughter, Ellie since August 2023 and then started competing in December of the same year.
“I've seen her confidence grow since joining, her self confidence and her belief. She can be quite self - critical but she’ll practise on her and the friendships she's made has just been amazing, Alex continued.
