Mary Fannon, 71, has been adding to her World Cup flag collection for more than 20 years.
A football mad great-grandmother has become the talk of her neighbourhood after decking out her home in a vast display of England flags, badges and bunting.
Mary Fannon, 71, has been decorating her home in Burnage, Manchester, during every World Cup and Euros tournament for the past 20 years. Buying more and more decorations each year, Mary's collection has grown over time to staggering levels, with the memorabilia now covering almost every inch of her house and garden - and even the garage. She said she was able to create this year's display with the help of an extendable ladder and her grandson.
"Come on England, get us in there lads. " Mary, who moved into her Burnage home more than 30 years ago, is famous in her neighbourhood for her lavish displays"I don't know of anyone else locally who puts as many flags up as I do," she said. "People do come past and show their support, I get a wave from passers-by and they've got their car horns going.
Mary said while she has been buying flags to add to her collection over the years, she has also had donations - with people visiting her house to hand over their own flags and catch a glimpse of the display.
"It would be weird now if people came and saw I hadn't put them up. ""My grandson puts them all up for me," Mary explained. "We've got an extended ladder he uses. He spent a full day doing it on Saturday and then again on Sunday.
"I can't put them up by myself but as long as I've got my grandkids to help me, I'll keep doing it for as long as I last. "Mary said she hoped to watch England's opening clash with Croatia either alone or with her grandchildren, but said she has bigger plans if England get through to the latter stages. "I don't care what time it is, if it's two o'clock in the morning, we're doing it.
Mary said she would "hesitate to even guess" just how many flags she actually has in her collection The tournament is just the most recent chapter of a whole series of World Cups for Mary, who clearly remembers England's famous one and only triumph.
"I was at home watching it with my mum and dad in Withington. I was still in school then.
""I'm hoping it's 2-0, I hope Harry Kane scores, and if they play Marcus Rashford, I hope he scores," she said. "I love it all because it's England. I really do love it, I really enjoy it.
"She added: "This is this is the big tournament, this is for the golden one and we haven't won it since 66. "I'm happy to know my house had been called the World Cup house of Manchester," she said
