The iconic worker bee, deeply rooted in Manchester's history, emerges as the symbol for this year's Pride Parade theme
It's one of the main highlights of Manchester Pride , and this weekend the streets will be turned into a spectacle of colour and celebration as the hotly anticipated parade returns.
Fast forward to today and this year’s celebratory parade will feature tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people and allies both marching and riding floats throughout the streets of Manchester as thousands cheer them on with flags and some equally inventive outfits. Depending on your position along the parade route you may be waiting up to 90 minutes after this before leaving the assembly area.
While its a bit of a mixed bag during the week, on Saturday there will be sunny intervals with the chance of its changing to light showers by late morning, according to the Met Office. At present late afternoon and evening look clear and if you're out and about enjoying Pride you can expect temperature highs of 17 degrees and lows of 10 degrees.
Speaking about the theme this year: Mark Fletcher, CEO of Manchester Pride, said: “We’re back this year with a theme that we feel will unite the people of Manchester and our visitors under the iconic symbol of the Manchester Bee.
