The Grade II*-listed venue will open its doors to the public once a week
People can now set foot in one of Manchester’s most unique attractions for free - and visit the spot where celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Hugh Grant and Alex Chung danced the night away at the Chanel afterparty last December. Manchester’s Victoria Baths has announced the return of Welcome Wednesdays, which sees the venue open its doors to the public every Wednesday, from now until September.
The baths will be open from 11am to 3pm every Wednesday until September 25. Entry is free although it’s £9 for the guided tour, which takes place at 1pm .There are family-friendly activities for those with kids, including the Miles of Tiles activity which is a fun way for little ones from five upwards to learn about the building - and there’s even a prize they can claim at the end. Families visiting on April 10 can take part in spring-themed activities for the Easter holidays too.
As well as being an important historical building, Victoria Baths still has its finger on the pulse when it comes to arts and culture. Last year it hosted the exclusive Chanel afterparty on December 7, following its Métiers d’Art show in the Northern Quarter. Visitors can explore the venue where huge names from the world of fashion, music, film and football, partied hard to performances by Primal Scream, DJs and more.
