Manchester United have condemned fans who chanted"unacceptable" songs about the Hillsborough tragedy at Anfield.
The club were comfortably beaten by title-chasers Liverpool, and a spokesperson said Manchester United will work to educate fans on the issue. On 15 April 1989, 97 Liverpool fans died as a result of a crush during an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest, at Hillborough stadium. It is one of the worst sporting disasters in the UK and an inquest later ruled that they were unlawfully killed."Manchester United stands in solidarity with Liverpool and its fans in remembering the victims of the Hillsborough disaster," a club spokesperson said."Offensive chants about the tragedy are completely unacceptable and we will work with our supporters' groups to educate fans on the issue.
