Manchester United are hopeful of signing a midfielder before the summer transfer window slams shut on August 30
Two midfield alternatives have emerged for Manchester United as the Manuel Ugarte transfer saga continues.
Former Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan is thought to be exploring his options after asking to leave Barcelona before the end of the window. The 33-year-old joined the Spanish giants on a free transfer last summer, following the expiration of his contract at the Etihad. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the German giants have made it clear Goretzka will not be a regular starter under new manager Vincent Kompany this season. However, the player wants to continue at the club and discussions are set to take place with a view to cash in on the 29-year-old.
