Manchester United are close to securing a new contract for Amad Diallo, according to reports.
Manchester United are close to tying Amad down to a new deal, according to former club chief scout Mick Brown. The Ivorian sees his current contract expire next summer and is therefore permitted to sign pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs from January as he enters the final six months of his deal. Amad has previously spoken about his intention to stay at United for “a long, long time” and there are very few fears he may exit in January.
The 22-year-old has the option of triggering a year-long extension in his current contract but it is understood the ultimate aim is for him to ink fresh terms. The attacker has been one of few stars to excel since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, who expects the club to find a “solution” to Amad’s contract situation soon. Only Bruno Fernandes (six goals, 10 assists) has recorded more goal contributions for United than Amad’s five goals and eight assists this season. Former chief scout Brown claims to have intel on the progress of Amad’s contract negotiations and has suggested that an agreement might be imminent. Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “I’m not expecting there to be any issues, they’re making good progress in talks. “The things that are still left to agree should be a formality, I think. From what I’m hearing, they’re confident that an agreement will be reached soon because it’s one everybody involved wants to get over the line. “It could even be done before the January window opens, if all goes to plan. His performances since Amorim came in have been excellent, and it seems the manager is impressed. “United have been looking to tie him down to a new deal for a while now, and his recent performances have only increased their efforts. “So yes, I’m expecting that one to get signed and sealed soon, and I’m pleased for him because he’s earned it with his performance
