Manchester United will face Fulham at home in the fifth round of the FA Cup following a draw on Monday evening. The Red Devils defeated Leicester City 2-1 in their last FA Cup match, with Harry Maguire scoring the winning goal. Eight Premier League teams remain in the competition after Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea were eliminated. United will be looking to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the third year running.
Manchester United are set to host Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup after Monday evening's draw. Ruben Amorim 's side secured a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford in their last outing. The Red Devils mounted a comeback through Harry Maguire , who scored after Leicester took the lead just before half-time. However, the towering central defender appeared to be in an offside position when the free-kick was taken.
Without the benefit of VAR, which is not in use for the third and fourth rounds of the competition, the goal stood. Speaking after the win, Amorim stated, 'Today is just the feeling of the win, and the fans will go home with that feeling of when they perform really well, they help us a lot to change the game. The rest is hard to point to something to give them a little bit confidence. Just the spirit in the second half, more energy, more second balls, small things. But the rest, we have a lot to improve. So we already knew that. But yeah, we need to do better.' As they prepare to face Fulham next month, United will undoubtedly be aiming for another cup final appearance after defeating local rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley last season. Marco Silva's team secured a 2-1 victory against Wigan Athletic in the previous round. With the exits of Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea, there are currently eight Premier League teams remaining in the competition. Crystal Palace will be hoping to secure their place in the next round when they face Doncaster Rovers tonight. The fifth round draw in full is as follows: Preston v Burnley Aston Villa v Cardiff City Doncaster or Crystal Palace v Millwall Manchester United v Fulham Newcastle United v Brighton Bournemouth v Wolves Manchester City v Plymouth Argyle Exeter or Nottingham Forest v Ipswich The fifth round ties will be played on the weekend of March 1. Prior to that, United will host Ipswich Town on February 26 in the Premier League (7.30pm). Get United transfer news and updates on WhatsApp!
