Manchester United youngsters Dan Gore and Harry Amass could be heading out on loan deals this month. The Manchester Evening News revealed last week that Ethan Ennis was joining Doncaster Rovers on loan, and it seems other academy players are set to follow suit. Gore, a 20-year-old midfielder, has faced a stop-start season due to a freak shoulder injury last summer and a subsequent minor issue in October.
As a result, Manchester United are considering loan offers for him this January transfer window, with him expected to play elsewhere for the rest of the campaign. He made his first-team debut in September 2023, but his progress has been hampered by bad luck. A loan move would provide a fresh challenge in a senior environment. Gore had previously been loaned to Port Vale last January, but an injury during his first appearance ruled him out for the remainder of the spell. United's coaches have been preparing Gore for a loan departure over the past month and a half, taking the same approach with Amass, who is also attracting interest.Amass, a 17-year-old defender, impressed during Manchester United's pre-season tour in the United States and even traveled to Wembley for the Community Shield, although he wasn't included in the matchday squad. He was given the experience of being part of the first-team setup. Amass was included in six Premier League matchday squads at the end of last season and was tipped to make his debut this term, but he has continued to play for the academy. With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia unavailable, Amass might have seen the start of this season as an ideal opportunity to break into the first team, but he was overlooked by Erik ten Hag. Once it became clear that Amass wasn't in the manager's immediate plans, talks were held to prepare him for a potential loan in the January transfer window. However, a source stressed that the move must be right for the young defender, and a loan deal won't be agreed just for the sake of it. First loans are tricky, and a club that can offer a clear plan for a young player's development will have a better chance of securing a deal than a higher-placed team that can't.Alongside Gore and Amass, Manchester United have a list of other academy players who could potentially leave on loan this month. It's understood that Ethan Wheatley and Ethan Williams are under consideration for possible departures.
