A detective said the victim has been left extremely shaken by the attack.
Detectives have launched an investigation after the attack was carried out at around 5.45am on Saturday in Stevenston.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time. “Officers are carrying out regular patrols of the area and I’d like to reassure the public everything possible is being done.
