Lyme Hall in Cheshire is a must-visit for any Pride and Prejudice fans, as the grand mansion served as the exterior of Pemberley in the 1995 BBC miniseries.Less than two hours from Liverpool, Lyme Hall is an ideal spot for a day trip. Visitors can stroll around the grounds and see the lake from the iconic scene featuring Colin Firth as Mr Darcy.
However, there's still plenty to discover within Lyme Hall, which was the residence of the Leghs of Lyme from 1388 until 1946, when it was handed over to the National Trust. Before or after your tour of the house, you can explore the grounds, including the aforementioned lake. The lake in question is nestled within the expansive 1,400 acres of Lyme Hall. The grounds also boast a rose garden, ancient woodlands, rugged moors, and a play area for children.
