Data shows a clear wage disparity across parts Merseyside
Office for National Statistics data has shown the UK's best and worst-paid places - and revealed what people earn in each Merseyside borough.
The ONS data comes from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, based on a 1% sample of full-time jobs taken from HM Revenue and Customs' Pay As You Earn records. Figures are provided for Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral, Knowsley, and St. Helens which can also be compared to the rest of the country.Across Merseyside, Liverpool has the highest wages while the Wirral has the lowest. The difference between the two areas' median annual wage is £4,535. St. Helens has the second lowest annual wage, but the lowest median weekly wage of £582.
The area with the highest paid workers in the country, discounting the City of London banking district, is the London borough of Tower Hamlets.
